If you don’t think it’s better to start on the pole, ask Sam Berri. Having taken the first spot in the Time Trials Thursday prior to Saturday’s race, top qualifier Sam Berri piloted his Class 1500 unlimited buggy to the overall win at the inaugural Best In The Desert’s Bilek Racing Silver State “300” in the desert north of Mesquite, Nevada.

Berri had a small lead most of the day, but drove hard through the scenic, and tough course to capture the overall and Class 1500 win. This was Sam Berri’s first overall win; he finished a little less than 3 minutes ahead of second place Chuck Dempsey.

Chuck Dempsey of Oak Hills CA took second overall with a time of 5:55:04

Steve Raskett in his #1546 Porter car came in 3rd overall with a time of 6:00:44

4th place was awarded to Gary Weyrich in the #1588 car with a total time of 6:01:40

Las Vegas' own Steve Olliges of Team Ford took 1st in Trick Truck and 5th overall with a time of 6:02:04

Chet Huffman in the #40 Trick truck took 2nd in his class and 6th overall with a time of 6:04:13

Chuck Sacks in the $1509 car took 7th overall with a time of 6:08:50

Mark McMillin of El Cajon, CA took 8th place overall in the #1537 car with a time of 6:16:49

Mike Bilek, sponsor of this race came in 9th overall in his #1567 car with a time of 6:20:19

Mike Bilek’s daughter Alexa, (her dad sponsored the new event) won her class 1100.
Steve Olliges, first in Class 1400, Trick Truck.
Curt LeDuc took home first in Class 8000.
Jason Horsely, Pro Truck winner.
First motorcycle across the line was a Honda, with riders Dylan Lane and Jeff Trulove, #N33.

Here are some more highlights of the race.

This is a shout out to all the motorcycle and quad racers out their:
