Ranger on the Edge

One of our readers contacted us and said he and a friend had a couple of prerunners that we might want to feature. After they had sent some pics over, we set up a time for a photo shoot to get a closer look at these prerunners.

Steve is the owner of this Ranger Edge prerunner, and this is part one of the build. Like most prerunners they are built in stages, just like you have seen with our Project Desert Ranger Prerunner. So far Steve has the front done up nice. The rear suspension is being built as you read this. Once that is done, we plan on meeting up with Steve again for a full day of action.

As I mentioned the front suspension is made up of the infamous Dixon Bros Racing long-travel kit. To get a bit more room under the fenders Steve also added Fabtech spindles. Handling the bumps up front are a set of King 10 in. 2.5 remote-reservoir coilovers. As you might know the Dixon Kit eliminates the crappy torsion bars giving you an ultra smooth ride.

To prevent the suspension from over extending Steve installed limiting straps, and he still achieves 16.5 inches of travel. Making room for all this travel is a set of 6in. bulge fiberglass fenders from FiberwerX. Steve's tire of choice is a set of 33" BFG All Terrains.

The only downfall of the Ranger Edge is the 3.slow V6 installed in them, so to help get more punch from this little v6 Steve installed a K&N intake and a throttle body spacer in hopes of squeezing out a few more ponies.

Inside the cab Steve added a few creature comforts in the way of an MTX 10in. sub inside a custom enclosure and a Kenwood deck.

This concludes part one of the 2-part series Ranger Edge, The Search For Travel…just kidding. After we get word from Steve that the rear is done we will get back to the desert for some serious action shots so stay tuned!!!
