With all that goes into creating a magazine I finally had a chance to shoot some pics of Robby Woolworth’s 06 Ford Ranger Prerunner. This is the very truck that made we want to build our Desert 4x4 Prerunner Project.

Not only is this truck his show vehicle it also performs just as good as it looks. I witnessed it Halloween Weekend at Dumont where I saw him effortlessly climb to the top of Comp Hill with no paddles just the BFG Mud Terrain tires aired down a bit.
Robby started this truck build with the Dixon Bros Racing long travel kit. As you know from our project it widens the track 4 inches each side and gives you 14” of wheel travel. He had the coils, shock hoops and radius arms powder coated yellow to match the paint. Really draws attention to his work. Shown in the picture you will notice the radius arms are a bit thicker. This is an upgrade he can do for your Dixon Kit install. Providing the cushion are FOX remote-reservoir coil-over shocks.

To give the large 35” BFG Mud Terrain tires mounted on 17” Mickey Thompson Classic Lock IIs the needed space for bump travel Robby relies on Glassworks fiberglass fenders he had painted to match. Since I took his bumper, he made a simple skid plate out of 3/16” aluminum, and mounted a pair of Acro HIDs to the factory bumper.

Moving to the rear is where Robby really shows off his abilities with a custom bedcage. This bedcage not only provides the rear shocks with its much needed higher mounting location, it also holds his full-size spare tire. He has also included a mounting tab so he can attach a whip flag for driving through the dunes.
The rear shocks of choice are FOX remote-reservoir shocks and he uses Deaver Springs for increased travel.

The only performance mod done to the truck is a Flowmaster muffler. Robbie feels reliability is more important in the desert than a lot of wazu performance parts to squeeze as much horsepower as possible out of the factory 4.0.
All in all it is a very well built truck. Simple yet Effective.

Robby is selling this truck so he can build a new ’08 model Ranger. If you are interested give him a call at 702.434.5518
