2008 Polaris Ranger RZR – Pronounced Razor Print E-mail

Only certain people in this world ever advance technology by such huge marks like the folks at Polaris have done with their introduction of their new Ranger RZR Side-by-Side UTV. This thing is so far beyond the normal Rhinos you see at the dunes and at off-road races. The Ranger RZR is in a class all by itself.

Starting with the look you will notice a huge difference in the bulk factor of this RZR compared to the Rhinos measuring only 50” wide the RZR was built to be able to hit the same trails as most ATVs. This looks like a more cozy ride, but after sitting in one it was no problem.

The other major difference is the use of Polaris’ 800cc EFI motor being used. This thing screams boasting the fastest UTV speed from the factory of 50mph. The RZR features 10” of travel front and rear, and if it handles the bumps better than their workhorse Ranger I can’t wait to hit the whoops.

The only bad part is the wait. I have called Polaris dealers in Utah, Nevada and Arizona, and they all say, “Well we might get them at the end of June”. Rats!!!

Even though Polaris is taking their sweet time getting them to the public they have not wasted time getting them to the aftermarket. One of the most notable companies in the UTV aftermarket is a company in Tempe Arizona Dragon Fire Racing.

They have partnered with Polaris Industries to develop all sorts of hop-up parts for the new RZR. They include aftermarket Suspension, Exhaust, Fuel Management Systems, Cages, Bumpers and more exciting new products available when the new vehicle starts shipping.

Ranger RZR Long Travel Suspension

RZR Long Travel, 4 inches wider per side, 2 inches longer wheel base, 13 inches of travel. All Tig Welded Chromoly Tube and Plate. Coil Over Fox Shocks with Piggy Backs and Axles included. Powder Coated Silver.

Ranger RZR Cage and Bumpers

Complete specs on the bumbers and cages have not been finalized. DFR is creating a cage for racing and for hunting.

Polaris has also contracted Dragon Fire Racing to build a Ranger RZR to take on Baja for the upcoming race. If it can handle Baja, it can handle just about anything you or I can throw at it.

As soon as we can get our hands on one we will be giving you the “Long-haul” review, as we chronicle our experiences with our Project RaZoR.
