Casey Folks, Director of Best in the Desert, announced big news today on the 2009 Best in the Desert “Vegas to Reno” event, held in August of 2009. Taking the highway from Vegas to Reno is a leisurely 7 hour drive of about 450 miles - but not Folks’ way - it’s now known as the TSCO “Vegas to Reno” - The Long Way!! .. and it’s approximately 1,000 miles one way!

We received a press release about the King of the Hammers race held in Lucerne Valley California and decided to look into it. If you don’t know about this race it combines Desert Racing and Rock Crawling in one event.

A while ago when I was into Drag Racing, Baer Brakes was the name you thought of when you had to put the whoa on your drag car. While at SEMA I was drawn by the Geiser Bros Pro 2 truck sitting in their booth. It seems Baer is hitting the Desert and Short Course Off-road Racing scene full force.

When you think of Baja, the last thing to come to mind is being, “Green”. Well that is not the case for one competitor of the 2008 Baja 1000. You might have heard that you can run your diesel off of straight vegetable oil. I am not talking about bio-diesel, I mean veggie oil like you fry French fries in.

If you keep up with the Best in the Desert Racing series I am sure you have seen the #1 Trick Truck of Team Ford. A bright red Trick Truck is hard to miss even at 100 mph. I met up with the Team during the time trials for the Vegas to Reno race, to give you a behind the scenes look at what goes on before the race actually starts.

Outside the Las Vegas Convention Center for the 2008 SEMA show we spotted this little prerunner and had to find out who owned this thing of beauty.

It turns out the Off-Road Masterpiece was built by Nick Baldwin Motorsports. Now we have shown you prerunners that would blow your mind, but the level of luxury in this F-150 prerunner works better than the little blue pill.
