Flared Bedsides for your Prerunner - 2007/07/31 03:23 This thread discusses the Content article: Flared Bedsides for your Prerunner

If you have question about flaring the bedsides of your prerunner, post them here.

This sure made a huge difference, not only in the looks department, but also the function.

Re:Flared Bedsides for your Prerunner - 2007/08/26 06:31 just bought an 02 ranger today. i've been dreaming of building a cheep prerunner, just enough to hit some jumps and tear up trails but i still need the use of the bed to carry my dirtbike in. do fiberglass bedsides bolt right up or would i need to fabricate? and is it possible to flare the stock bedsides myself without fucking anything up? also i've been looking at the camburg 5.5 system wich includes the deaver springs and bilstien shocks for the rear but do those rear end parts bolt up or require tampering with the bed for shock clearance? i got a lot of questions and a reeealy low budget if anyone can help out i'd very much appreciate it. thanks

Re:Flared Bedsides for your Prerunner - 2007/08/26 16:30 To answer your question about fiberglass bedsides, the hard part is removing the factory sides. The bed must be removed and all the spot welds drilled out before you can get the fiberglass bediseds on.

I don't recommend flairing the factory bedsides yourself unless you have had some experience with it. If you go even a little too far you will get stress spots in the metal and it will look wrinkled.

The Camburg kit is a good way to start. One of our features in a previous issue uses it http://www.prerunnermaniac.com/Prerunners/Prerunner-Features/The-Versatile-Prerunner-%96-Ford- Explorer.php

I am not sure about the rear components as I have not seen them installed in a "stock" fashion. Usually different upper shock mounts are made to take advantage of the extra travel the Deaver springs give.

Re:Flared Bedsides for your Prerunner - 2007/08/26 22:54 It can cost you anywhere from $300 to $400, which is not bad consider fiberglass bedsides are arounf $500.

And yes it is not as simple as Robby Woolworth makes it look. He makes it look easy because he has done it so many times.
