Re:Lift or Long-Travel Which is Best - 2007/06/17 06:33 I would prefer a Long Travel setup, as from what I've seen they ride great and hook up really well traction wise.Anything with suspension travel of 15" plus is just awesome. I have had one long travel suspension on a 91 Toyota 4Runner I used to own. Now I have an 84 Chevy 1/2 ton that will probably just get lift and a set of used 33/s. Any suggestions what I should do suspension wise on the Chevy? Truck:84 Chevy 1/2 Ton 2WD
Tires:Used 33 9.50 15 Radial RVT
Engine:88 Pontiac Firebird 350
Tuned Port Injection, GM Hot Cam
Trans: 700R4 With Heavy Duty Clutch Packs

Re:Lift or Long-Travel Which is Best - 2007/06/17 16:02 I have yet to see anything right out of the box for Chevys. Ford and Toyota are the norm.

Is your Chevy 2WD or 4WD? 4WD you don't have many options as it has a solid front axle. You can have a custom link suspension, but with the solid axle you won't get much bumptravel like with a beam suspension or independant

Aside from some custom fab work I don't know of any other options besides a lift kit.

Re:Lift or Long-Travel Which is Best - 2007/06/17 17:05 My Chevy is a 2WD with the heavy duty factory suspension. Basically its 3/4 ton springs in a 1/2 ton. I know Fabtech, and maybe rough country have a 2-3 inch lift kit, but other than that I think it would have to be custom. Truck:84 Chevy 1/2 Ton 2WD

Re:Lift or Long-Travel Which is Best - 2007/07/10 09:22 I had the Fabtech crossmember lift kit on my truck. It was really stiff BUT really strong (I heard so many horror stories about them sucking after I bought it). All-in-all with what I know know is SAVE for an LT kit- it'll be worth it in the long run. Re:Lift or Long-Travel Which is Best - 2007/07/23 04:02 I've broken many a "lift kit". The crossmembers bend or break in half with a good 80MPH 75 yard launch. Long travel all the way. Don't waste your money.
