BJ Richardson Overall Winner With His Class 1 Buggy

The SNORE South Pointe 250 was situated off of Pabco Road near APEX. We situated ourselves about 1/8 mile from the starting line just after a nice “S” curve in the track. It turned out to be a great spot as the racers went by flinging rocks and dirt as they passed. It was a recipe for some great shots of the race. |

Titled the “Longest Offroad Race in America” the Best in the Desert’s Vegas to Reno Race is not only the longest, but also one of the toughest. There were 149 car/truck entries, and 11 UTV entries, only 74 racers finished in the car and truck classes, and 1 UTV entry. That means well over half of the car and truck entries never made it to Reno. |

As the 5th race of the SCORE Off-road Racing series, the SCORE Las Vegas PRIMM 300 seems to be a stepping stone for most racers on their way to the Baja 1000 held this November. With over 180 entries and a top average lap speed of 58.266 on a 72-mile lap for the winner, this was a very fast track to run. Also since the Herbsts recently purchased the area of PRIMM we will see a big change in future races held in the PRIMM area. |

Ok so you want to go see a desert race and you have no idea what to bring. Well here is a run down of what we here at Prerunner Maniac think you should pack for a fun day at the races.
First thing to keep in mind is you will be watching this race somewhere in the middle of the desert, so just like if you were camping the same requirements apply. The most important thing is water. I see so many people go to the races will a 44 oz. fountain drink and that is it. This might hold you over for about 30 minutes, but most races take hours to complete. You should have at least a pint for every person for every you are out there, dehydration is not something you want to experience out there. |

It was an exciting day for racing. Earlier in the week the Spring Mountain range was snow capped, and today we had record-breaking high temperatures of 96 degrees. This seemed to be a big factor in the race. High heat equals dry dusty conditions for the racers, not to mention the endurance they will need to complete the race. |

JeepSpeed is quickly gaining in popularity. Could it be because it is the cheapest form of offroad racing?…that’s my guess.
No longer do you have to have a bank account like Donald Trump to enjoy the thrill of offroad racing. For under $10,000 you can go racing on the same tracks the high dollar Trophy Trucks traverse. You might not get to the finish line as fast, but you also did not spend half a million dollars. |
